Public transport here is frequent and cheap, quite the opposite to London. Best advice is to get the PTV app for your phone which helps u search routes, availability, arrival times etc

The tip we got was when viewing ensure you chat to the agent so they remember u. Get all your supporting documents in advance (copy of passport, income etc) will allow you to submit an application ASAP. We are told that popular places get many applications. Brunswick west is nice, my friend lives in north cote nearby which is meant to be nice, near to lots and u get more bang for your buck. Personally we love caulfeild and Balacklava areas, but they are not so cheap. Best of luck
