  1. Hi Rob Thanks for that, funnily enough we considered NZ initially a few years ago I think the lifestyle is probably more suited to my OH and I have been re looking at NZ again, its very difficult when we havent visited a country to decide where to settle, but im afraid we cant afford to start a reccie. Our destination may then be determined by a queue!!! lol! yes I know exactly what you mean about the children ours are14 and 10, so have arranged for them to stay with granny! The youngest doesnt know we are going as he doesnt want to move a mile up the road let alone to the other side of the world! I bet you have lots to discuss today with things running round in your head! Well good luck and thanks again for letting me know how you got on. Gill
  2. Hi Thankyou for the info, Im sure we will find it useful and i am really looking forward to it. Thats the other big thing is do we use an immigration agent or do it ourselves, it all seems very daunting but I suppose we have lots of homework to do and just take one day at a time. To me gathering everything required to apply for the visa seems like the easy bit its the actual move, worry of getting jobs, housing and finance that is the big worry. But this site appears to be really useful and supportive so I think I will be on here all the time!! Where have you settled in Australia? We have been thinking about Victoria around the Mornington area plus I have a friend who moved there about 20 years ago and I feel slightly more comforted by having someone I know close by. By the way its been snowing here all day and I cant get warm!!
  3. Good luck at the expo Rob I would be interested to hear how you got on and for any advice you think would be beneficial for us to know or find out before we go on 24th feb. I have updated my CV but never thought about taking my certificates so best start searching for them!! Still think Im too old!!
  4. We are also going to an expo in Birmingham at the end of Feb, is it the Down Under one? I am also a Nurse and we are not really sure what to expect wether I will get offers of interviews etc. My husband is in sales and would rather him get a job offer but think that is highly unlikely. I also think I am too old for this, we are both 46 with 2 kids one of which is adamant we are not moving anywhere!!! Not a great start, why didnt we do this when we were 21??!!!
  5. Community is the way to go at the moment, everywhere trying to prevent hospital admission but I dont think they are well equipped to deal with the extra work load! Anyway enough of politics! We think Cornwall or Devon is our Plan B. I think because of our ages we are looking at a sponsership visa but we are going to an expo at end of feb so hope to gather a bit more info then. Are you going to Australia soon then? What speciality are you in?
  6. Theres another thing I have a variety of experince, medicine, spinal disorders, dermatology, most recently wound care and pain management, at present I work in a department called theatre treatment suite where various procedures are carried out! I do have my Enrolled Nurse qualification to fall back on I dont even know if my conversion course was at diploma level! What speciality are you in?
  7. We have just started re-considering a move to Australia with a view to settling in Victoria, however although I am a registered nurse I converted from an Enrolled Nurse and do not have a degree. I have just looked at the Australian Nursing Council and they say to register minimum entry requirements are graduate level therefore can anyone tell me if that means I wont be accepted as a level one nurse? Perhaps we should just consider a move to Cornwall or Devon!!!!!!
