Guest Mike H
One of the lucky ones here who has just had our visa's approved. I'm a fitter & turner by trade & was wondering if anyone out there had any insight into was the Aussie side trade assessment is about? Any help greatly appreciated. Guest fatpom
This reply may be a little late to be of use to you but here goes? I'm a fitter turner also (or at least was). You get your trade quals validated by the Trades Recognition Authority (forget its actual name but has probably changed anyway by now). They may require you to do a trades test on arrival. I didn't probably because the company I did my apprenticeship with is a multi-national. Anyway you will receive a trades recognition cert which declares you a qualified tradesman to Australian standards. Having said that you won't receive it for several months & will probably be working long before it arrives. Add to that no-one has ever asked to see my certs. So I'm not sure its worth the bother?
