Guest Temptininnit
Hi, what kind of interest rates can we expect on £100k+. We are still in the process of applyingfor our Visa, we plan to rent initially and wonder how much we can typically expect to get from interest towards our rent. Many thanks

Guest spray21
Will the money be in £ or in $? Ball park figures - ask for at least 5% in the UK (That is a fairly standard rate for ordinary savings accounts, so you should be able to get more!) and in Aus it will be higher - possibly 6 or 7%. So you will get more interest for your savings in $ - although currency fluctuations may cancel that out if the ratios suddenly change or you want to change the money back. Of course you will also have to pay commission to change the money in the first place. To get proper answers the only people to talk to are the banks - ask a few in England and a few in Oz, (use websites) then talk to a few agents who can transfer money for you and find out how much THAT will cost. have fun!
