young2682
Hi, We are moving to the Hallam/Narre Warren/Berwick area in a couple of weeks. I have a 3 year old son and a daughter who turns 5 in January. Can anyone advise on whether or not they can go to kindy/what age they start etc, and also how much they cost? I am unsure as to whether I will be entitled to any funding on a 457 visa or not?? Any advice on the good kindys/schools would be gratefully received! Thanks :wubclub:
Guest The Pom Queen
You don't need to pay for school fees on a 457 visa only on a student visa.

From what I seen they dont do half days llike they do in the UK, but its normally around $65 per day. There are some good ones around Berwick/Narre Warren area best to visit them all and see what you think of them. If you are not going to be working there are play groups around to meet other people, best contacts for these are the local health nurses. Or there are lots of people on here in a similar situation. Also your 5 year old will be able to start school prep (same as P1, they go from prep to grade 6 in victoria) in Jan/Feb when the term starts. Normally they require that the children have been through a kinder program so you might want to check with the schools if it will be OK for her to start. I have family in that area that have been through the schools, so if you want any recommendations for primary schools let me know. Dan.
