Coolum, so what's it like......really?!?!

Hi Fellow PIOzzers!

We stayed in Coolum last year for our reccie trip and really loved it there although weren't too impressed with the rude and drunken youths we saw louting about on a Sunday morning!

We have 3 year old twins and a 1 year old and would like to be near the sea but want a house which has a decent garden.

We've heard that Coolum has the highest number of single mothers in the country. Not really a problem but if anyone could tell us a bit more of what it's really like there or would we be better somewhere like Buderim?

Want to be able to walk to restaurants etc if possible.

Thanks for any help!

Coolum is great. Wife and three kids (youngest is 4) live in Buderim but go to Coolum nearly every weekend for the beach and the cafes. Don't get too hung up about the social demographics - sure, Noosa is wealthier, but nothing like as friendly as Coolum (try Perigian too, just a few kms north). We've never had any problems with dunken kids or whatever. Would have lived there but settled in Buderim by chance and now kids at schools don't want to relocate.

Thanks, we did like it when we went to Coolum last year and we are going to get a holiday let when we arrive in February. Think we might be able to get a bit more garden in Buderim but will have a look around both areas a bit better. We did go to Perigian Beach one day and liked it there too as it seemed fairly quiet but with shops etc and very friendly.
