Ozmaniac
If your wife's aunt lives in Sydney, she will not be able to sponsor you for a visa as family sponsorship points are now only available if the relative lives in a designated regional area. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/designated-areas.htm Designated Regional areas Even if she lived in a regional area, the only visa she would be able to sponsor you for would be a provisional skilled immigration visa and for that, your occupation must be on the Schedule 1 Skilled Occupations List (SOL). http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/475/ Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 475)

Ozmaniac
I wonder why you didn't bother providing that information in the first place as it seems that you knew that it makes a huge difference to your situation. Because you applied for your 485 before 8 February 2010, I believe you are subject to transitional arrangements which make it possible for you to have an occupation from the SOL that was current at that time and are also subject to the points test that applied at that time. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/transitional/886/eligibility-state-terr-rel-spon-02.htm http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/points-test-transitional.pdf
