Hya, my other half moved to Perth in July and is a fully qualified Electrician. You need an A class certificate to work as a sparkie in Perth and to obtain this you need to take a course (18 weeks). They hold 2 a year (one in summer one in winter) but only accept 25 students on each course due to a shortage of tutors. He managed to find work straight away with a skills agency but any work he carries out needs to be checked over by an Aussy electrician. He is earning less than he is worth at the moment and it could take 12-18 minths to obtain his certificate but it will be worth it in the end when he is earning more than he was in the UK. Hope this is useful to you

Do you know if it is possible to get on this waiting list BEFORE you get to OZ?

Is it just a matter of having an Oz address???
