cobbler
looking on the sol list somehow I see shoemaker is on there 393114 (looking at the definition it mentions shoe repairer which is what I am) but I also do engraving, key cutting & watch repairs in my shop BUT there is no qualifications involved. Can I see anything positive in this or am I just dreaming? I don't want to go around the houses with this because certain people on here have been very helpfull to me:notworthy: Cheers all cobbler (still hopefull)

Guest VickyMel
'bumping' ?? Yep Noodle was bumping your post to the top of the list again so that more people coming in later would see it and answer you . If you are on the new SOL - if you look again at the list there should also be listed a qualifications assessment body. VETASSESS or something. Then what you might do is go to their web site and see what the definition is of that qualification (actually DIAC might also have a definition) and what evidence and experience they need you to provide in order to get a positive skills assessment. I just googled it and came across this (not from any official site) Occupation: 393114 - Shoemaker Makes and repairs boots or shoes. Skill Level: The entry requirement for this occupation is the qualifications and experience (AQF Certificate III inclulding at least 2 years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)). At least 3 years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. Tasks Include: cutting and preparing canvas, leather and sailcloth to design specifications, patterns and drawings sewing, gluing and riveting sections of canvas together to make articles such as awnings, tents, tarpaulins and horse rugs attaching grommets, fastenings and other fittings to canvas goods joining parts of leather articles using riverts, hand sewing, sewing machines, tools and adhesive restoring and repairing leather articles fabricating sails designing patterns and prototype of boots and shoes making and grading patterns using manual and computerised methods clicking synthetics, corrected grains, leather linings and leather outers by hand and machine altering and repairing footwear Specialisations: Medical Grade Shoemaker Shoe Repairer VickyMel

Guest VickyMel
This is the list that would get you into Priority 3 http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule3.pdf If you are not on that or one of the states lists there is another list - but DIAC caution that there is a long wait 2-4 years. http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule4.pdf Maybe chat with one of the agents - there are a few that come in here regularly and get good recommendations from people who have used them look in this area for a few names Agents Information - PomsInOz Forum They will generally give you an bit of free initial advice and should be able to advise you if there is something open to you in your occupation. Hope that helps VickyMel
