Hi guys i applied drc, 28th june, office manager, Perth and high risk. Only recieved ack on 17th Aug, what are the chances of it being processed before Xmas ??

Thanks :)

Chances are few, You should target Jan.-2013 for last week of June DRC applicants for Perth and MEL even longer.

Looking at the pattern and quota for Melbourne NON DRC and non ETA, it can not be processed in 2012-2013 planning levels.

June rush and previous backlog will push NON DRC visa allocation in new year July 2013-2014.

Hi Massimo,

My friends applied in Perth and it was onshore, low risk, non DRC. He is an electrician so possibly due to having a trade in high demand they were bumped up the line (But that's an uninformed guess!)

I applied 13th June onshore to Perth, received acknowledgement letter 15th June (So must have just got in before the rush), low risk and non DRC and am still waiting on a CO.

Think it's probably unlikely I'll hear anything before Christmas now at this stage..!

My guess is Feb.-2013.

Yeh, I think so too, late Jan early Feb, I would imagine DIAC are mainly wrapping up now before Xmas.

Does anybody know what kind of break the department receives over the holidays?

I'm hesitating on booking a trip back to Ireland for a holiday to see my family, so hopefully I can get some confirmation soon :)

China is "high risk" country for sure. DIAC distinguishes the risk level of the country by if the passport issued by this country is eligible to apply for Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). There are only few low risk countries for DIAC, other than them all others are viewed as high risk countries. ETA countries:
