Can someone please tell me what it is like as I have heard various things about it and other surrounding suburbs. Pennington is an older, slightly run-down suburb near the more industrial areas in the north west of Adelaide. Not a wealthy suburb, with quite a large immigrant population (asian/vietnamese etc). However my husband's cousin has lived there quite happily for many many years, her house has a large back garden and is in a pleasant and quiet suburban street. You don't have to live there if you are working there - and there are many nicer suburbs nearby within easy commuting distance, and near the beach.
