I want to come to Australia!

So I graduated from Uni last year with a Sociology degree, I have no work experience and I don't think my "degree" is on the skills list - well I am never going to be a social worker, ever (unless its good money :biglaugh:).

Where can I seek advice that is free and also good? I think I want to move to Australia, not 100% sure but I am thinking very long and hard about it!

There are several ways to migrate to Autralia. Check the visa-wizard to see which one suits you best:

lol the visa says there is no visa for me.... and no marriage as of yet, although i am trying lol

Degrees don't tend to get you to Australia no matter what subject they are in. You need a career and work experience to qualify for a skilled migrant visa.

Have you thought about taking a WHV if you are not ready to do the whole career thing just yet? That would get you to Australia for a year and there are ways to make it two. But without work experience behind you it is unlikely you would be able to make it more permanent than that.

yeah I am here now on a working holiday visa, need to leave soon.

Well you could get a second year if you have done the seasonal work thing.

Are you working? If so could you get employer sponsorship, not every job is eligible for sponsorship of course.

Otherwise you probably need to either find a nice Aussie chap or head back to the UK get a career and look at it again in a few years.

If I were you, I'd have a chat with some established recruitment agencies for WHV holders. You'll find many of them also specialise in employer sponsorship which could ultimately turn into residency for you. If you're on a WHV then you'll probably get maximum points for your age, so as long as you pick a 60 point occupation (it can be in any skilled occupation on the SOL Schedule 3, or 4 if you get sponsored by a state) and work in it for 12 months, it shouldn't be hard for you to get together an application.

You definitely do have options, even though you might need to work at it! Good luck :)

My advise: You better think long and hard about migrating to Australia if you dont have ENS. Things change every 2-3 months and you application and you might find yourself waiting for the next 2-3 years to get processed. There are many other better countries to migrate out there with more transparent migration schemes. Don't make the mistake I did.

My 2 cents worth.

with regards to the whv I am unemployable at minute as i am here on a whv and no one wants me for 6 months and dont have a job which they want.... so might as well go home.

Then just go fruit-picking to make yourself eligible for a 2nd WHV. I've been down to OZ on a WHV just 2 years ago and it never took me more than 24 hours to get a job. I sometimes had to drive 500km and it was somewhere deep in the bush but I had a job ....
