We are moving out to Oz in Sept, we currenlty have a laptop and are thinkin gof leaving it with the mother in law so she can keep in touch.

 

Should we buy a new computer in UK Singapore or OZ what is the difference in prices

Hi there - I travelled to Perth in Feb this year and checked out Changhi airport on my way out. They had a good deal at the airport but I thought I would hold on until I had had a look around Perth for their prices. I didn't feel that the prices in Oz were as good so when I returned to Singapore for a stover on my was back to UK I found that the deal had finished. However, I went to the Sim Lim Centre which specialises in electrical items (I think the 4th floor is the best for laptops/computers) and bought an Acer Aspire 5052WXMi. The label says 2x256KB L2 cache. 14,1" LCD. Up to 256MB 1100 HyperMemory. 120GB HDD. DVD / RW. 1GB DDR2. WiFi, Bluetooth. It also has an inbuilt webcam. I paid about 500 pounds uk. I got a carrycase and 1gb memory stick thrown in. There are so many outlets wanting your business so I went forearmed with precisely what I was looking for so didn't feel too intimidated or pressured!

 

I have found similar capacity back here in the uk but without the webcam for about the same money.

 

You could always check out the Dell website in Australia and compare with the UK prices too.

 

Overall I am happy with what I got and at a fair price.

 

If you do buy one make sure you get rid of the packaging and carry it like you have had it for ages - otherwise you'll get hit with taxes!

Im no computer whiz so not sure on the technical side of things but we bought a complete package here in brissy with printer/scanner etc for $900,did contemplate getting a laptop but this was cheap enough,its much better than what we had in uk and everyone whos been in here comment on screen picture quality,
