cjajn
What level of private medical healthcare is advisable for a family of four in victoria. Do the charges and cover vary wildly. Any advise would be very much appreciated.
Guest jooby
go to www.iselect.com.au if you will be permanent residents. This site gives you a great idea of comparative prices for private health insurance. If coming as a temporary resident the cost is enormous as you have to be covered for repatriation to UK (please check on this as it may not apply in all states depending on your visa). We have the lowest private health cover we can get just to get the tax breaks it gives us...I work in health and find unless you have long term health problems the cost of paying the insurance doesn't cover what you would get back. eg. it's actually cheaper to pay up front for children's dental checks (even braces) if you add up how much you pay each month and what you can claim for. This may not be the case for everyone though, so I would still recommend iselect (although they do not cover all of the health insurance companies). cjajn
could anyone help with a ball park figure of what we should expect to pay for health insurance for a working class family of four, thanks
Guest jooby
Depends on the cover you want and if you are permanent residents. As PR expect to pay from approx $120 for lowest cover to avoid paying extra in income tax, upwards of $500 a month if you go "all out" and get premium cover.
