Nats
Hey opened westpac account a couple of weeks ago and this company contacted me regarding transferring funds from UK to Westpac account. They are telling me that it is cheaper to transfer via them than the UK banks international transfer facility. Obviously Westpac has shared my info with them, but Im not keen on companies cold calling me, and they are so desperate for business. Im not saying that they arent above board, just wondered if anyone has used them and if its worth setting up an account with them?? I dont even have much funds to transfer over ... my home in the UK is currently advertised 'For Sale' therefore I shall have to continue making the mortgage payments in the meantime. Has anyone used them?? Thanks

Thanks Hi Nats Using a specialist foreign exchange company is certainly a good idea – you can pretty much guarantee you’re getting the best available rates, which will almost always be better than the banks. If you are using a foreign exchange company, researching the company is always a good place to start. Look for key indicators, such as the number of years the company has being running, and how reputable they are. You can always get quotes from more than one currency broker, to ensure you’re getting the best rate. Moneycorp aim to offer the best rates available, and will allocate a qualified expert currency dealer to ensure you get the most for your money. Feel free to contact me on private message if you’d like to talk in more detail. Thanks John
Guest guest17301
We used them Nats, small amounts are fine, we didn't have much, hassle free and a good service. I'd recommend them. Basically you transfer funds to their UK account and they transfer it into your Oz account in dollars, takes 3 or 4 days.

Guest markspooner
Hi Nats, I have used HIFX in the UK professionally with a corporate account manager and as an individual. As a corporate client they were well informed and offered some good ideas, as an individual I found myself in the later half of 2008 calling from the UK and after when calling from Sydney a bit of pain to deal with. At times I have held on waiting for the call to be answered for 20+ minutes admittedly they were busy and the currency at the time was fluctuating alot. When I got through the indicative rates online were no where near what I was quoted. The rates will always be better than a bank, many brokers, HIFX as well probably, have online access so you can trade to get the best online quote when dealing in relatively small amounts - good for regular transfers of cash The account set up isnt too difficult and the cash arrives very promptly
Guest John from Moneycorp
Some specialist foreign exchange companies have local trading offices in Australia and the UK, so you would be able to deal with the office convenient for you. Kind regards John
Lynandsean
Used them regularly when in the UK from 2007 transferring to Oz accounts and now vice versa. Excellent service from both sides so would highly recommend them. Lyn
