Mazda mx5

My wife is going out to Melbourne at the end of January to take up her new job.

She has a very nice 2002 Mazda mx5 which apparently will bring around £5500 in the UK.(Parkers valuation) She has had it from new and has only done 17000 miles. We have no issues with the valuation here in the UK but are a bit suprised at the cost of these things in Australia, £26480 new and £8750 for 2002 car with around 65000 miles. (£=$1.81)

Given that she will receive help from her employer with shipping costs does the panel think that this could be one of those occasions when it would be worth taking the car with us. I know that in general the advice is not to bother but in these circumstances?

There is no rush to make a decision as I and my son will be following her in 18 months time after he has completed his "A" levels and she will be renting very close to her place of work until we rejoin her so she does not need a car immediately.

Any advice or opinions welcome.

Merry Christmas from a very cold UK

Mamba
