Guest mazza007
Does anyone know the approximate waiting lists for the following visas once applied for: 1. Parent - Migrant (subclass 103) visa 2. Contributory Parent - Migrant (subclass 143) visa? Thanks Max Approaching 2 years in Melbourne and happy!

Alan Collett
Ball park estimate: 103 application: 8 to 12 years 143 application: 12 to 18 months If you have spare funds, consider lodging a 103, then withdraw the app when lodging a 143. It can markedly reduce the 143 processing time. Consider also a 173 visa initially with an onshore 143 application to follow within 2 years if you want to split the main Visa Application Charge into two elements. Best regards. If by going down 103 route, withdrawing and lodgeing 143 could reduce processing time, my question is by how much, and if sucessfull, is this unfair on those who have chosen the 143 route as first choice. Fairness in the migration program? Are you reading the other threads on this forum regarding the changes to the skilled program? You have to work with the system ... as best as you can ...
