Henry Allingham ,worlds oldest man an one of thlast World war one soldiers dies aged 113 , recognition as the worlds oldest fella gives news coverage .Ted kenna vc aussie digger passes away aged 90 . Ted kenna got a state funseral and the respect of many. No doubt Mr Brown will give Mr Allingham as much honour and respect. Alas he will probably save it for the royal spongers with gongs on their chest for dressing themselves for a week . Or much deserving causes such as the ethnic lesbian single mothers group

Good on yer Henry and all yer mates

Yes just been listening to that on the news, what a fantastic man he was. What an example to the young people of today that he continued to promote the memory of previous conflicts and the people who gave their lives for their country and I agree that he should be held in high esteem and given the respect he deserves by a state recognition with regards to his funeral. whether that happens remains to be seen!!

When we visited Kings Park for the first time we commented on the wonderful respect given to the war dead by way of the numerous memorials on the tree plaques. I haven't seen anything as 'big' as that in England. The war memorial cenotaph is also very humbling and a very peaceful place to visit.

The National Memorial Arboretum Armed Forces Memorial

Wasn't convinced by the idea when it was first muted, but been there a couple of times and it is a really suitable monument, even more so as it grows into its surroundings.

And the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day is an incredibly powerful experience......shame it just sits in the middle of the road the rest of the year.

Met Henry about a year ago, mad as a brush in the way all old soldiers are

Can't imagine he will get a state funeral, but pretty sure he will get the full military honours.....if the Navy and RAF don't start bickering

A true hero and one all us Brits should be proud of.:notworthy::notworthy:

Suspect he would have been deeply embarrassed to be called a hero....a bloody nice bloke, a patriot, he might have blushed to be called an inspiration...but he wouldnt have described himself as a hero....he would have insisted the blokes who didnt come back were heroes.

A bloody nice chap, may he Rest In Peace with the mates he missed so much
