Guest fatpom
Not a machinist (for a long time now) but I work in Engineering. There's still work but many places have laid staff off in response of the down turn. Its now very easy to negotiate good metal prices and delivery which says quite a lot. It will pick up again. All I would say is that if you don't hit on a job in the first two months of arrival it will get harder until Feb. Any of the metro areas will be OK for work. Wouldn't risk rural areas. Too many people chasing too few jobs in rural areas & the locals have the contacts to get them before you.
