Morn Pen - Tyabb

Recommended Posts

Tyabb is six kilometres south of Somerville and is a small village. There are two primary schools in Tyabb, Tyabb Rail which is a good school and top Tyabb which is also a good primary school and my children went to top Tyabb. Top Tyabb is in the country amongst the larger acreage blocks of land.

Tyabbis an old Apple producing village and the Cool Stores are still there and now used for Antiques. They are now very popular with tourists and its a nice place to visit. They also hold farmers markets in Tyabb regularly.

There is an independent supermarket, chemist, doctor, La Lupa (best pizza on Peninsula), cafes, paper shop, bakery, post office etc.

Sporting facilities are Baseball Club, Tennis Club, Cricket Club, Footy Club, Aero Club.

There is an airport at Tyabb and its well used by the local flying club and flying lessons are conducted from there. There is a Motel in Tyabb called the Fly Inn.

The train goes through the village and its walking distance for people who live in the Village.

Bike paths link Somerville, Tyabb, Hastings, Bittern, Somers and there is also a Bike Path up to the top Tyabb Primary School and Flinders Christian Community College which is across the road from top Tyabb primary school.

Its a very pretty area and lots of nurseries, vegetable farms, good soil.

Houses are on residential blocks in the Village and there is a lot of new housing being constructed presently and the price of land is affordable. Acreage properties surroung the town.

All the towns/villages on the Westernport side othe Peninsula are separated by green belts and they will not merge together. This was done after Mornington became so huge and lost its village feel and really its just a huge suburb now. To the Westernport side retains the village atmosphere which is missing on the Port Phillip side now.

Your a star Petals.

Any recommendations for areas on the ocean side of the peninsula away from the main drags where the key priorities are a property with views and easy stumbling walk from good wineries?

Sorrento far from being a weekend retreat seems to have the whole city coming to play in the weekends and OMG over summer.
