  1. Hi, I am going to do the ielts test for my 175 visa as I need extra 5 points. Was just wondering which is the most efficient way to go for the test? Pen and paper or computerised? Does the computerised way go quicker and is it easy to follow the instructions? Does it work the same way as the preparation material or would the pen and paper option be safer?

    Help! Pen Pals Needed :)

Hello. We're almost at the end of obtaining our Visa. We will need to enter the Country before 23rd December 2011!! We're heading for Victoria and would love to chat with POMS in Victoria. I look forward to hearing from you all. Claire
  4. Hello Everyone, My family are moving to the Central Coast next August and my daughter is already worried about leaving her school friends and making new friends in Oz. She will turn 6 next week and is in year 1 here. I thought it would be valuable if she could make a new friend(s) and learn something about Aussie life and Aussie school before we head out. I thought perhaps we could start off with an email and maybe work towards sending a short letter and picture through the real life post?? Any child, boy or girl between 4 and 8 would be perfect and you don't have to be Central coast either, I suppose. Sophie (36), Joe (39), Jeannie (almost 6) and Eddie (3). :cute:

Does anyone know if there is a pen pal system for Kids in the UK to write to Kids who have emigrated to Oz, so that they can share there hopes/fears etc? My Daughter is 11 and is on Facebook and my youngest Daughter who is nearly 8 is worried she isn't going to make new friends! If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated. Regards, Claire

    Morn Pen - Tyabb

Tyabb is six kilometres south of Somerville and is a small village. There are two primary schools in Tyabb, Tyabb Rail which is a good school and top Tyabb which is also a good primary school and my children went to top Tyabb. Top Tyabb is in the country amongst the larger acreage blocks of land. Tyabbis an old Apple producing village and the Cool Stores are still there and now used for Antiques. They are now very popular with tourists and its a nice place to visit. They also hold farmers markets in Tyabb regularly. There is an independent supermarket, chemist, doctor, La Lupa (best pizza on Peninsula), cafes, paper shop, bakery, post office etc. Sporting facilities are Baseball Club, Tennis Club, Cricket Club, Footy Club, Aero Club. There is an airport at Tyabb and its well used by the local flying club and flying lessons are conducted from there. There is a Motel in Tyabb called the Fly Inn. The train goes through the village and its walking distance for people who live in the Village. Bike paths link Somerville, Tyabb, Hastings, Bittern, Somers and there is also a Bike Path up to the top Tyabb Primary School and Flinders Christian Community College which is across the road from top Tyabb primary school. Its a very pretty area and lots of nurseries, vegetable farms, good soil. Houses are on residential blocks in the Village and there is a lot of new housing being constructed presently and the price of land is affordable. Acreage properties surroung the town. All the towns/villages on the Westernport side othe Peninsula are separated by green belts and they will not merge together. This was done after Mornington became so huge and lost its village feel and really its just a huge suburb now. To the Westernport side retains the village atmosphere which is missing on the Port Phillip side now.

    Mornington Pen - Balnarring

Balnarring is a suburb on the Westernport side of the Mornington Peninsula and is a lovely village with a very nice small shopping centre which has a nice design. The primary school has a very good reputation and the children are involved with ecology and the like. There is a wetland park area near the Village. Services are available in Balnarring. It consists of houses on regular house blocks and acreage properties around the fringes. Very pretty area, lots of horse studs around and about. The beach is very nice I love it actually especially in the winter to have a walk there. If you go early in the morning you can see the race horses being exercised in the sea. It has a Yacht Club and sailing is very popular in Western Port Bay. Its not far to Point Leo Beach which is a good beach for body surfing. Its an affluent area as with lots of wineries B & Bs etc around the area. My dog groomer lives there so I visit regularly and she is great. Its a hike to the city from Balnarring but people do commute to areas such as Dandenong, Frankston, Carrum, Mordialloc, Clayton anywhere around those areas its a commute. It does not have a station though. There is a bike path from Balnarring up to Somers and its well used as well. Here is a link to a tourist guide of Balnarring Balnarring information & attractions - Travel Victoria: accommodation & visitor guide

    E-mail Pen Pals for children

Hello everyone, A thought occured to me recently... Why don't we make it easier for our children to make contact with friends in OZ? I have two daughters, Hollie, almost 16 and Lauren 14. They have tried through the younger ones forum to get friends but no luck. I feel that e pen pals could make the whole journey a whole lot easier on teenagers. They don't necessarily need to be living in the area they are moving to, but it would be a bonus. What do you all say? Maybe make a list of all the ones wanting one with a few details about themselves etc. PLEASE help me out!!! We are moving over in June next year, house is sold, move out next month into rental. We are going to Melbourne in the Sanctuary Lakes area. Hope to hear from you all soon with all your ideas. Take care, Wendy.:radar:
