Guest The Fletchers
Hi We needed to quickly return to the UK in December 2007. To bring the cats back into the country they needed to have all the usual jabs/wormers/micro chips but also rabies jabs 6 months before the date of travel.....your vet should be able to advise on when to have these done etc. As our two boys hadn't had rabies jabs they needed to spend 6 months in quarantine in the UK which was very expensive......cost us £3055.71 which included boarding fees, vet fees on arrival, rabies jabs, collection from airport, skin & coat treatment, airport clearance. Hope this info helps. Linda
johnd
so what you are saying is that if we get the rabies injections 6 months before we travel they wont have to go in to quarantine?, if that is the case how much just to send them to uk?. thanks

Guest The Fletchers
Hi Your pets need to have rabies jabs and then 30 days later blood tests need to be taken to establish whether there are sufficient antibodies, if everything is in order they will be able to travel 6 months after the date of the blood sample and not need to go into quarantine. They may need further jabs if the antibodies are inadequate. Back in Dec 2007 we paid AUD 2,268.00 ( incl GST) for our two boys to be flown back to the UK. johnd
thanks for the info, it would appear that if you get the jabs etc done it is a lot cheaper than the cats going into quarantine, ( and a lot less stressful on the cats ). we havnt made up our minds yet about going back but its nice to know it can be done for under $5000, rather than 5000 pounds which is obv a lot different. i couldnt leave them behind it would seem unfair. thanks again.
