dave and ange
We are going to be renting our home out in the UK whilst living in Oz. Does anyone know what tax has to be paid either in UK or Oz and how you can reduce the amount that you pay? Thanks in advance for any help. Guest steza1975
Hi Dave and Ange, My partner and I are in exactly the same position as you as we are planning to rent out our London flat in Feb 2009 when we move to Oz. We are currently investigating the tax implications but from what I have been told we will be liable to pay UK tax but I am unsure how much this will be and also what costs can be claimed from it. Once I get more info I will pass it on. Good luck with the move

Guest ditsyruth
We intend to move next summer and will be renting our house too. We are also wondering about the implications regarding tax in Oz. We have three children and will greatly benefit from Family Tax and were also wondering does it classify as income toards this. Guest earlswood
Me again, You may also want to check out HM Revenue & Customs: The Non-resident Landlords Scheme So you have to pay tax on any rent you receive while abroad  does not seem fair to me to be honest.
