MandeepSingh
I had applied contributory parent's visa 143 on June 2018. Now my parents are in Australia & are eligible for aged parent's visa 804. Can I apply for visa 804 without withdrawing visa 143? My intention is to allow parent's to stay in Australia on bridging visa while they are waiting for decision on visa 143. Please advise. LindaH27
You have to withdraw the 143 before applying for 804. 143 doesn’t not allow the granting of a bridging visa. One of your parents would have to be over 66 years old to be eligible to apply for 804 - and the wait time for that visa is over 30 years. As temporary residents under 804 they would not get full Medicare and Would have various other restrictions such as no claim to any benefits. Whilst waiting for 143 ( and your application in 2018 is likely to take longer than 5 years) they could apply for 870 visa for 3 or 5 years this would cost each one $5000 for 3 years and $10000 for 5 years, they would have to have private health insurance too as they would not be able to claim Medicare As they are currently in Australia you need to keep an eye on whichever visa they are currently on so as not to overstay without another legal visa
