Help on which visa, we have 65 points

Hi all,

we have 65 points (top marks on ielts), and a positive skills assessment.

We ideally want to go to WA due to family and a support system.

I called an agent previously and they were adimant the only way to go was a 190, so we went for that, but the whole moral obligation scares us and we want to obviously do it ligit, and the right way, so have now said we don’t want to do the 190.

Even tho the agent did put eoi and we got an invite, do we now have to cancel it off and put in a new eoi for a 189?

We are prepared to wait as I’m pregnant and want as less stress,so even if we are here for 1.5-2 years waiting for a 189 grant that’s no problem.

Anyone have any advise? We are worried too rules will change etc, it’s another 2 years that we would get more points for work experience (6years to 8 years)...

is ot a visa lodgement stage if the rules change.... your safe?

pls help

Tough to say how much more competitive it will be in two years, points may go up to 75 like it was for a portion of last year. There’s also the 5 year regional rule they are flirting with. Might have a better idea after the federal election next year.

You are taking a risk by not accepting an invitation which you have in hand. But at the same time, if you don’t believe you can hold true to the moral obligation then it’s best not to apply right away. Unfortunately too many have made this obligation to the states, and are not following it. This, in turn, is ruining it for those of us who are willing to stay 2 years. (which is minimal in the grand scheme of things if it means we can get perminant residency)

In the past, once the visa was lodged, then whatever changes come about won’t affect you. For changes that would effect getting an invitation, then if you have an invite you also won’t be affected by those. One thing I am not sure on is the case of the government changing the regional areas, that’s probably grant related compared to invite/lodge.

What is the occupation?
