syd
We had our dog revaccinated for rabies last weekend, because her 3-year window from her last vaccination ends in August. Gov vet at Aus Agriculture said we wouldn't need to wait another 30 days before titre test (because it wasn't our dog's first rabies vaccination), and could draw the blood right after the vaccination, but our vet suggested we rather wait the standard 30 day period. Has anyone been in a similar situation and had the titre test done immediately after the vaccination, and successfully cleared your pet when arriving in Aus? We need to go over in the next 2-3 months, so every month counts, but would just like to see if anyone else has followed the advice given by Aus Agriculture and come out ok. If so, I'd like to have her blood drawn tomorrow to send off for the titre test ASAP.
suesmalls
if the Aus Agriculture advised this can you get it in writing or at least their name - then if you proceed with blood test you have fall back of where confirmation came from. good luck. syd
Thanks @suesmalls! I have the email from the Agriculture vet, so will keep that, and do a test now and again after 30 days, so that I can use the earlier test if it's negative as well. suesmalls
good luck @syd I'm sure everything will be fine with the first test. Paws crossed. Are you moving back or is this an ongoing requirement while in Aus? We moved to England from Australia late July 2017 so not sure on the repercussions should we move (or more importantly) when we move back to Australia.
