Daydreamer
Hello I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but we are thinking to install solar panels in Melbourne to cut our electricity bills. I know the feed in tariffs are not as generous as they were in the past. However, I wonder if anyone could share their experience about solar or alternative energy supply, e.g. finding a trusted trader, the installation, any trouble you had with or things need to watch out. We are a family of three, just normal usage of electricity. Somewhere I read the payback time for Melbourne is currently 7.5 years. It seems very long! Any advice/recommendation is appreciated. Thanks
Skani
I can't help with specific questions relating to Melbourne....but thought these links might be of interest. I've collected them as I've also been thinking about solar panels. https://www.choice.com.au/home-improvement/energy-saving/solar/articles/how-much-solar-do-i-need?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=solar&utm_content=pagepost http://www.solaraccreditation.com.au/consumers.html https://www.solarquotes.com.au/top7mistakes.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlt-ZoPv82AIVXr-9Ch2RaAU7EAEYASAAEgLe1_D_BwE
Daydreamer
Thanks Skani. I don’t want to scare you but this is why I’m hesitating. http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2016-07-30/surge-of-complaints-against-solar-companies/7666816

Sandgroper
We haven't installed them but bought a house with them and also solar hot water, big difference in bills from our previous place. I guess if you are looking to stay where you are long term then it will always be worth it.
