Help needed on Brisbane suburbs...

Hello. Looking for some advice on Brisbane suburbs please...our wish list would be....on the water, or within a 10 min walk of the river or ocean. Plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, cafes etc & a lively atmosphere. Good public transport links close by. And if anybody knows Manly on Sydneys northern beaches, that's where we live now, so if we could find somewhere with a similar vibe we'd be soooo happy! Thank you

What about work? This would help us advise if you need to live North or South for the commute time

Problem there is they are all South Side!

The author of the post post needs to establish a budget, Bulimba like Ascot Hamilton etc are out of the reach of many.

We bought in Bowen Hills, nice and central, booming area and house that suits our needs. We had a firm budget and we both walk to work which improves our quality of life and amount of spare time significantly.

Why is it a problem? The op didn't state N or S nor budget.

Thanks for your replies guys. We haven't secured jobs there yet, but will presumably be city based. We currently live in Sydney & are used to commutes of over an hour, we currently pay $750 a week in rent for a 2 bed apartment so preferably something cheaper than that although we don't mind paying a similar amount

$750 a week is a very healthy budget. You could secure something nice for much less than that. We're in Yeronga in a town house - two years old. Three bed, two bath, three toilets. Large kitchen, outdoor space, lockable garage. 15 min walk to river, 3 min walk to shops, lovely restaurants nearby and 5 cafes in walking distance with great coffee/food. $475pw. Train to CBD takes 12-15 min max.

Look here www.realestate.com.au and then figure out commute using https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/journey-planner or you could walk if closer. I only know south suburbs so if you're interested in north I'm sure someone else could help you out.

You have to be quick - turn up for viewings/engage with agent and apply immediately if interested. We were one of five applications for a first viewing and feel very lucky.

Thank you :) Sydney is the same sadly, there were in excess of about 30 people at the viewing for the apartment we're living in now. I think we only secured it as I completed the paperwork that same day & was persistent in checking how their decision making process was going! Crazy isn't it!

The rental budget is realistic for 3 beds and quite central. We rented our home for a while and achieved more than that for 3 beds 3 bath etc. Central locations are more expensive as are those near railway stations.

best of luck with your search.
