tapetheescape
Hi all. Looking for some advice on driving in Australia. I now have a two year visa, so looking to pick up a car. What should I be aware of? Any tips on insurance? I dont have an Australian licence, only UK. Is this an issue? Any road tax equivalent I should be aware of? Pitfalls/protection when buying privately? Thanks in advance!!
ScottieGirl
Licences vary by state. In NSW you can drive on your UK licence if you are not a PR. You will need registration referred to as rego and CTP insurance on top of the normal insurance. Rego is a rough equivalent to road tax. For CTP and car insurance check our comparethemarket.com.au
tapetheescape
Thanks Scottie. Any idea what the rules are in Vic?
Cbop
I think it's the same in Vic. We're on a 457 visa but We got new Oz licences . It makes insurance cheaper and also good Oz ID with an address on. The ID part is the most useful. Sent from my iPhone using PomsinOz
