Richard Gregan Posted April 19, 2017 Share Posted April 19, 2017 Very hard to say. As long as he studies hard, then he will give himself the best chance. There are practice tests on the British Council website, and you can find lots of advice on You-Tube as well. You can also google IELTS tutors should you want a bit of extra tuition. My first 2 or 3 practice tests were miserable , but after some tuition and practicing almost every night I feel a lot more positive. I never had a chance to study due to work commitments but I found it to be easier than most make out. My results were - Listening- 9 Reading- 8.5 Writing- 8.5 Speaking- 8. If English is your partners first language then he should be able to get the 20 points no problem with a bit of studying. Your hubby will know having been on the tools for 20 years , picking up a pen again is not as easy as it sounds . I'll probably recognise him by the steam coming out of his ears . I'll be the same . I managed to finish it just about . I had a chat with a few guys in there , not sure if it was your hubby . Very strict though , which was good to stop any cheating . Speaking was just like having a chat so I think I've done ok in that . Overall I'm hoping I've achieved the 8 . I did speak to a guy who's on his third attempt . I hope he gets the 8 he needs .
