Early stages help please

Hi to migration agents!

My husband and myself wish to make the move to Oz and are currently finding starting the whole process rather confusing!

My husband is a plumber and we wish to use his job as our route in on a PR visa. We thought it was going to be the 189 but now not sure if it should be the 190??? Not too sure of the real differences between the two?

Also in what order do we need to do things? Things such as Skills Assessment, English tests, Medicals, police checks, expression of interest?

We have looked at the Skills asssessment with Vetassess and see 2 stages. Must both stages be completed in all cases (do all plumbers have to complete practical demonstration even if they have required certificates etc).

All feels very overwhelming all the moment, really need some help and it would be very appreciated!

Thank you.

May I suggest that you consult a registered migration agent for an assessment of your visa prospects?

Thanks for your reply.

We have done an assessment online and know that my husband would have enough points for either the 189 or 190 visa. We also know that all the things listed in the previous post are reqired we are just uncertain of the order in which they should be done?

We thought this section was for people seeking advice from registered migration agents?

Indeed it is, but your post is so far off track that is is not possible to offer considered professional advice.

Some comments:

Plumbers must obtain a pre-migration skills assessment, including a trade test, whatever their qualifications.

An English test might not be necessary for migration, but would be necessary for points.

189 is skilled independent, 190 is state/territory nominated.

Online assessments (of the automated variety) are, for the most part, worse than useless.

Sequencing:

Step one - Consult a registered migration agent for a written assessment of your visa prospects.

Then: skills assessment, EoI, application for nomination (if applicable) visa application (if invited) police clearances and medical examinations, when requested.

Hi Walker25

I agree with Westly. If the prospect of your visa application is going to be low, then you will be wasting your time and money. The whole process is going to be more frustrating for you and your husband.

All the best.
