giby
Hi, I'm a Software Engineer with 6 years of experience in Java programming. I'm planning to apply for 189 visa. I've done the ACS skill assessment and my qualification has been assessed as AQF Master Degree with a major in computing. But I could score only 50 points (Age - 30 pts, Skilled Employment - 5 pts, Qualification - 15 pts) in the points test with over all 6.5 in the IELTS (over 6 for each unit), so I'm not eligible for applying this visa. I would like to know, am I eligible for any additional points, if I have a valid certification like - Oracle certified Java Programmer ?. Thanks, Giby Thomas
JetBlast
Hi, You can retake your English, you can get a max of 20 points in this areas if you get a superior. You could try PTE instead of IELTS. Some information is here - https://www.border.gov.au/Lega/Lega/Form/Immi-FAQs/aelt For the 10 extra points you need you need 7.0 in IELTS or 65 in PTE. You won't get any additional points for the certification as you have 15 for the qualification already. Thanks
giby
Hi JetBlast, Thanks for your response. Is PTE fairly easier compared to IELTS ?.
JetBlast
Apparently so yes. However I have never taken the IELTS so this is second hand information.
