chatterboxallday
Hello Everyone, Can anyone clarify for me whether or not I can buy an established property (that is not new) before I actually reside permanently in oz? I hold a permanent resident visa but for several reasons I am unable to settle in Oz full time at the moment. The government website states that "the holder of an Australian permanent visa" is exempt from needing to apply for permission from the government to buy property but it does not make it clear whether I actually need to be residing there when I buy. Can anyone help me with this?
Wooba
That statement is not in any way ambiguous. Clearly you qualify. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk

CiderDrinkingCoder
Barny, It is correct; however, I would recommend you go see any property before purchasing. There have been separate threads on whether to use a buyers' agent, that you might like to leaf through.

I would definitely view myself as I visit at least once a year but I will seek out the threads you mention Thank you for that.
CiderDrinkingCoder
No worries, mate. As long as you're holding your PR, you've no concerns (or extra stamp duty) to worry yourself with. Have fun hunting
