How many years should ACS deduct from my total years of experience? Educational Qualifications: B.E. From what I understand you will not be deducted anything for having a degree that isn't in IT. It will just be ignored for the assessment purposes. You will need a minimum of 60 points to apply, I think with your work experience you will pickup 15 points as its 8 of the past 10 years skilled work (providing your experience is skilled). But I think you will also need a certification from the attached list. If you get a certification from the list and 3 years experience after it you will get 10 more points. You can also get points for your age & English language ability (you will have to take a test). How old are you? I have 12 years of IT experience "already approved and recognized by ACS" and applying for 261112 (Systems Analyst). However, they have deducted a total of 6 years from these 12 years.I have submitted a very good RPL document and most of these years of experience were in multinational company (Vodafone Telecommunication Company). I have got my bachelor recognized from Vetassess as well. Is there any way they can grant me 8 instead of 6 years? The following employment after December 2009 is considered to equate to work at an appropriately skilled level and relevant to 261112 (Systems Analyst) of the ANZSCO Code. Position: System Analyst Dates: 2 years Employer: X Position: System Analyst Dates: 4 years Employer: Y Position: System Analyst Dates: 6 years Employer: Z Now your in the queue can you make any changes like this? Yes sure, until the express entry gets selected you can update it as much as you can. I know some friends already updated it after getting higher scored in English and they got the invitation afterwards. How did you do with the English? Did you get the full 20 points with this? It's wouldn't hurt to get a points test advice from Vetassess (This is to have a basis to claim points for your bachelor degree. some say this isn't necessary though). Kenfrapin Posted March 30, 2016 Share Posted March 30, 2016 There hasnt been a clear answer yet on the thread so providing further info If you dont have a degree relevant to IT or the code you are applying for, then you have to prove you gained knowledge in this field by working in it for a particular number of years So if you have a degree not relevant to your ICT code, then they will deduct the first 6 years of your experience as years used up to actually become a qualified ICT professional. If you have any experience years left after this deduction then you can use it to get experience points. I had 11 years experience but no relevant degree in the IT field, so I lost 6 years which left me with 5 years to claim work experience points. Some folks have degrees with sufficient IT subjects in which case they treat it as a degree with minor in IT and only deduct 4 years from your overall experience. My bad, by degree I do mean relevant degree for the specific ANZSCO code you are applying for. For most ICT roles like Business Analyst, Software Engineer, Project Manager etc, you need to have an ICT degree But for Networking roles you are right, CCNA and many other certifications count as relevant and you don't lose experience KnK Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
