85dmitchell
Hi .. I came to Australia on a 175 visa in 2014 and worked for 6 months in the mines. For many reasons we moved back to the UK, am I able to claim back the superannuationon that I paid or a tax return for that year?
ruthwin
I'm not sure what a 175 visa is, but you can put a tax return in for sure. Just ring or email your superannuation company and they will tell you if you are eligible to claim your super. Be aware that you will have 40% taken out for tax though. ruthwin
Ps, YOU don't pay superannuation, your boss does. It's a % above your wage . Currently I think 9.5%.
movingback
A 175 visa is a permanent visa. Therefore you cannot claim superannuation back until you reach retirement age But you definitely should lodge a tax return.

Ok, that's what my husband has ( I'm a citizen) he rang to see about his super before we left and he could take it out, but only if he gave up his visa, but he would also lose 40% to tax on taking it out. So we decided yo leave it there. He renewed his re entry visa before we left just in case we decide to go back st done point.
