Ruthhart1066
Hi we have been here for 7 years, currently living in Upper Coomera, I have been working in Brisbane and my kids go to school in Brisbane too, I have some Australian and New Zealand Friends, but it's been really had to meet local British people with the busy lifestyle we have traveling to Brisbane every day. We are settled now, but I really miss having British people around me ( just miss the the sense of humor and culture) would love to meet British families to meet up on weekends with kids to have days out, play dates for the kids or even just meeting for a coffee or a barbecue. I have a 9year old girl and a 3 year old boy. Anyone interested in catching up? Ruth

I am coming out in March to look at if Oz is for us (for certain) before we apply for visas and hoping to catch up with expats before then to find how the move went and areas that are good for families, not sure how u decided. I am hoping to find work as a social worker. The most important thing is to make friends and settle in as quickly as we can, would be lovely to chat. Ruthhart1066
Hi Maria and Mike it would be lovely to meet up with you when you come out in March, one of the hardest things about living in Australia is making friends and missing home, quite often I get home sick but then I look at my lifestyle and my kids lifestyle and it would be cruel to go back to the uk. It's a wonderful place to live, and I don't regret the move, just get a little homesick sometimes. I love everything about the lifestyle here and I'm sure you won't be disappointed when you come out to check it out. If you are coming to the Gold Coast when you come out in March let me know, we can arrange to meet up. Ruth

steveNem
Hi Ruth We are also in upper coomera and have been there 3 and a bit years. We are looking at buying at some point this year and will probably move to Helensvale. We have a 4 year old and one due in a few weeks. Once bubs is here we would be happy to meet up. We have spent so much time trying to find work and get settled we neglected the making friends side of things. oh and Smith family, you shouldnt have too many troubles finding work as a SW lots of non govt organisations also employ social workers. I work in Mental Health admin and we have loads of them! Good luck with your move.
Liz Hardy
Hi all. I'm moving over to Daisy Hill in April. I have a grandchild on the way and I'm hoping to be his carer whilst my daughter goes back to work. When I've stayed in the past anyone I have struck up conversations with have ended up being British. Whilst in Oz I do miss the UK ways of socialising. It would be lovely to be able to form a friendship group when I arrive.

SteveNem can you advise on any links, starting to worry about getting work and salary I am heading out in march hoping to meet up with potential employers. We have looked at Adelaide but looks high unemployment rates. It feels like a mind field at the moment. It would be lovely to catch up, as we will be moving with no friends or family.
