leanne1287
Never heard of them, but just applied for a quote Let me know how you go. We had an instant quote back for about$2500 to take back our Ute and 2sq meters of personnel bits. Liked that we could also fill the car. Looks a good price! Chortlepuss
Mine was $1751 US $($2397 AUD) for roll on roll off $2129 US ($2915 AUD) for 20 Ft container with goods inside car (additional cost for goods outside) in a container, Brisbane to Southampton. A pain for us to get to Southampton but do-able. Question is how difficult and expensive and time consuming is it to sort out car in Southampton so it can be driven? We are also getting a quote from Kent on Weds for car and goods. But we really don't have too many goods (a large move cube's worth) So would a Hyundai Santa Fe take up a whole 20ft containter? ruthwin
We had lots of quotes and considered using them but we managed to get a better deal for a sole use 40foot container fir our car and belongings from a different company. Cargo online seemed really good, but I was struggling finding a customs clearer in the UZk ( because we had to organise our own) whereas OSS who we are using , organised it as part of their quote. When I did get quotes from a uk agent, that us what pushed the price up considerably.

ruthwin
Just sent off for a quote with OSS - but do they handle admin, paperwork, speedo change etc or are you still having to do that? No, there are only a couple of companies that specialise in conversion ( basically our car will get the mileage convert and fog lamps to front) the company we will use us Sigma automotive, I rang them after getting info from OSS. They charge you for getting an MOT ( any car older than I think 4 years old needs one) emissions test, registered , plated and the conversions required to meet regulations here. They have quoted me between £550 and £1550 ( I know big difference but URLs the two extremes of what could happen) they organise yo pick up the car from customs and we will pick up our uk registered car from them. Cargo go online use the same contact, but again you have yo pay. The difference in my quotes was that customs clearance charges, handling fees in the uk are covered by OSS quote but not cargo online. They gave me an agents contact details and his quote was close to £800. So my savings will pa for the sigma ppl to register it. I did a lot of research and running around in the phone and Internet, happy to answer any questions. Oh oh and cargo online quote in USD , which can make you feel like it's a good deal, but remember there are also handling charges at oz customs/ wharf fees, transport fees etc. when we added it all up with uk clearances it was closer yo $6000. We gave a Nissan Patrol. We are shipping in a dole use 40ft container with approx 18 cubic metres of overdo so possessions for $10 500. I had quotes from other companies fir the whole lot for up to $15,000 . Also I have heard of ppl with similar amounts of personal belongings without car paying around $8k to ship. So I think my life in a box for 10500 is ok.

That is a good quote to include the car - we only have a small amount of belongings - they would fit into a large movecube, but are looking at a shared container if we wanted to take a car. I was hopeful that a 20ft container would fit a car and 6 cubic feet of boxes/personal effects but Kent want 20ft for car alone.
ruthwin
You can put some things in your car, which can save space, you may get away with a sole use ( sole use is much cheaper than in a shared container) 20foot container. Good luck with your quote.
Chortlepuss
Kent told us the car had to be empty and that we needed more than a 20ft container for our car and 6 cubic metres of stuff. I would have thought it would all fit in a 20ft - car is a Hyundai Santa Fe and large but not that huge. Still have OSS to give us a quote and then we'll decide. The guy from Kent seemed pretty good though.
ReComm
I also plan to ship my household items with my vehicle using 40ft container. 10500 AUD for 40ft container looks a good quote. If you don't mind, could you inform me the name of a moving company you obtained the quote. I have received two quotes, but they are almost 14000 AUD. Got a good quote from OSS (I think) for car + 7 cubic metres - $2000 for goods, $3450 for car - Got given the name of a company who deals with UK side - Who are you using in the UK to deal with getting the car UK roadworthy? OSS worldwide shipping, I used the Brisbane office. Our stuff set sail today! Already had contact with the customs agent in the UK. They all seem very efficient and great customer service so far. That takes around two weeks. Just look the up on the Internet. They have also been really helpful.
ruthwin
I actually found and spoke to sigma before OSS mentioned them, there are not many specialist ppl that do that type of work. Seems most of the quotes from shippers mentioned them too, so either a rort, price fixing or they are just very good....I'll let you know. You will need also to organise insurance Before you get plates/registered and uk car insurers are expensive or won't insure imported cars. It's a bit if a catch 22, you have to have it or you can't get it registered. So you need to get in touch with those will insure a car on a vin/chassis number. There are lots. You get short term ( most are minimum of 30 days) from the day it arrives in the UK, then after it is plated you can get normal insurance as its then a registered uk car. We have hit a suite from acorn insurance, but I will ring a few more over the next month or so. 30 days is over £300 so not cheap at all, but the fine fir no insurance us bigger!
