Currently, I am student of Chartered Accountancy (Pakistan) ICAP pursuing final examinations along with practical experience of 3.5 years in one of big 4 firms. I want to inquire what are my available options to Australia if i want to commence professional life in Australia. My age is 25 years. Thanks. CaptainC
Ravian611 it's very difficult to say at the moment as it is looking fairly likely that accountants will be removed from the skilled occupation list in the near future. There is massive competition for employment even for applicants with lots of experience and specialist qualifications, and you'll have to consider that it might not be the easiest ride for you. CaptainC
It's not guaranteed that Accountants will be removed from the list, however the number of applications has decreased dramatically in the last few years and is currently standing at 2525 places this year, down from around 4500 places last year. The occupation is flagged for removal so it may survive or may not. It's not certain. There's no clear path from student to residency, and it generally depends on whether the occupation remains on the list, unless you can get sponsored by an employer, which is very difficult to do for the reasons stated in my earlier post. Once an occupation is removed, it's not normally reinstated for around 6-7 years. My best advice would be to investigate the possibilities for further study and see if you can get an internship with possibility to lead to sponsorship. Otherwise, wait until you are qualified and see if you have sufficient points to migrate independently.
