Moving back with Aussie Husband.

Was thinking about that too - does the money have to be in a UK account for 12 months? We don't have any UK bank accounts at the moment, only Aussie accounts. The money will also come from the sale of our house which should settle before Christmas. In this case, would we have to deposit the lump sum into a UK account and then wait 12 months before she could apply?

Thanks again for your advice - it really is appreciated.

No, it doesn't have to be in a UK bank account, it just has to be any bank account anywhere in the world, and it doesn't even need to be the same bank for the whole time - provided you can provide printed bank statements for the full twelve months.

If the money is from the sale of a property, the 12 months requirement is waived. You do have to provide evidence of having held the property for more than a year (which could be a land registry document, if you don't have it then your mortgage provider will), and then you provide a letter from the solicitor who handled the sale and proof that the money is in an Aussie bank account.

So basically, you'd need to complete the sale, put the money in the bank and move into rented accommodation for a few months while she applies.
