laura74
Hi guys - me and my husband are planning on moving to australia hopefully sydney, my husband is a site manager for a company here and mainly works with timber framed buildings although he can do any chippy work. My question is do you know if there is any work for timber framing or clt as this would be where he would feel more comfotable. He has built huge buildings such as schools, skate rinks apartment buildings and run all the jobs. If anyone has any info i would be very grateful. Suzukiscottie
I see timber frames being erected on building sites in many locations around Melbourne. I have no idea how easy it is for carpenters to find work though.
Rallyman
Timber frame is the standard method of construction over here, he would do well to read up on the building codes of Australia (BCA) to get a better understanding of how things work over here, it's quite a bit different than the UK. Lots of work about in Sydney for carpenters, he might be best to start on tools and work his way up as from my experience when they realise you can think for yourself and solve problems you get promoted very quickly . good luck .
