Mitchell Kelly
To clarify: 1. The current instrument that sets out eligible RSMS occupations is IMMI 15/083. This will be updated next week. Generally, occupations that are skill level 1-3 are considered eligible for RSMS applications. Note - an occupation's Unit Group (the first four digits of its ANZSCO code) does not always indicate the skill level e.g Project Administrator is Unit Group 5111 but is a Level 2 occupation. 2. Child Care Group Leader is a specialisation of Child Care Worker (ANZSCO 421111). You can see this on the ANZSCO description on the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) website. While Child Care Worker is a Level 4 occupation, Child Care Group Leader is a Level 2 occupation and, therefore, is eligible for the 187 RSMS visa - and has been for some time. 3. A Level 2 occupation requires the applicant to hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an Australian Diploma or higher. Can I just ask how many years work experience is needed for Childcare Group Leader? I have the diploma and I am currently studying an early years degree so just want to make sure I have enough work experience. Thanks again

It can be a confusing area and drafting errors don't help. The Diploma on its own is sufficient to meet the skill level as prescribed by ANZSCO. No additional work experience needs to be demonstrated if you hold the Diploma. All the best. Edited July 3, 2015 by Mitchell Kelly

phoebe
Ok brilliant! Thanks again for all your help:) Hey guys! How's it going~ I'm about to complete my diploma in Sydney; just wondering if there are any updates re: the prospects of staying in Oz after completing the Diploma in ECE and Care? I've been doing an extensive research into which VISAs I might be able to apply for, and RSMS seems to be the least rejecting one however, the government website seems a bit ambiguous as to what occupations is or is not qualified for it. So, practically... did you guys have any luck with the RSMS visa? I might try that myself xxoo Phoebe
