Camerilla Posted April 27, 2015 Share Posted April 27, 2015 Hello, Wondering if there are any rules in regards to driving a car/renting a car in Australia. Do you have to be over 18year, or older? Do you need to have your drivers licence for at least 2 years (for example)? Any rules about that? Skani Posted April 28, 2015 Share Posted April 28, 2015 Most rental companies require the driver to be over 25. Some will allow younger (21 - 25) but impose a surcharge fee. Generally the licence must have been held for at least 12 months but this can vary with the company. You would need to check with the particular hire company. It is complicated because laws differ from state to state.
