Do you have to have a unfurnished rental ready for drop? or is there anytime to store? basically we're going out there in Aug 2015, ST rental for 4 weeks whilst we find a Long term Rental - does this seem OK? Also what size is normal for a family house............. 4 bedrooms Thank you in advance for all advice

Most shipping companies will be able to arrange storage for you at destination so that you've got time to look for your long term property but your belongings can be quickly delivered when you do. Some may offer a fixed storage period but will be able give you a price per week or month just in case it takes you longer than you think.
Suzukiscottie
It will take a little time for the container to get through the port operations and customs clearance. When we sent ours, we had to provide a destination address (my work address) but the shippers knew that the final destination would be different. Just keep in contact with the shipping company to keep them informed. They will likely want to deliver as soon as possible after notification of a final fixed delivery address. srg73
We packed, shipped and simply kept in touch with both of the companies. We used Bournes who are members of a global network of movers and ended up with Chess here in Brisbane. We were told when the container arrived, had cleared customs, what had been inspected (beware Christmas decorations WILL be opened and caught us with 1 decoration!) and where would like it delivered to and when. We delayed our by 4 weeks and cost circa $400 so not a huge amount. Dont worry about the shipping, you are paying a company to worry on your behalf, just keep in touch with them.
