prisur2814
Hello All, I love this forum since we started processing 189 visa. I have just registered! We have submitted our final medicals on Dec 13th, 2014. I expect that the Visa grant will be done atleast by Feb 2015 and planning to migrate to Australia by end of 2015 if everything goes good . My father had expired few years back and I feel very bad to leave my mom alone. We did not include my mom as dependnt as she is having reumatoid arthritis and her medicals will fail for sure. What are the various visa options to take my mom to Aus and will i be able to afford her insurance? Will she be able to stay for 6 months a year? I am a business analyst and my husband is a software engineer. We have a 1 year old daughter. If we have a website\ thread\ forum discussing on the parent stay, please share. VERYSTORMY
The only real option would be a contributory parent visa. However, you would need to be here for 2 years before she can apply and it is very expensive - about $60,000. She would also need to pass a medical. The 600 visa would allow her to visit for long periods.
joshbay84
The parents of one of my friend had visited Australia on visitor visa, and stayed for a year. More information on the visa can be found at http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/600.aspx
Ozmaniac
A Contributory Parent visa is a possibility after you've been a PR in Australia for a couple of years but if there's likely to be an issue with her passing medicals, that's an option to be approached with great care. Parents of PRs however can get special 600 Visitor visas that are valid for 18 months (if they haven't had a previous Australian visa) or 3 years (if they have) and allow a stay of up to 12 months in any 18 month period. Sound like that one may be a good solution.
