emmaw1810
Hi everyone, so me and my cousin are travelling to Aus on 01 January! Very excited We have both got working visas and I have just looked online and to get your new tax file number you need a Aus postal address. This may be an issue as we will be in hostels etc. Has anyone ever had this problem or is there a way of dealing with it if you are travellers. Thank you in advance, Emma
Ozmaniac
It doesn't need to be a residential address. If you won't be at the same address for the 3 weeks after arrival, it can be sent 'Poste Restante' and you can pick it up at a post office in the city or town you want to collect it from. City (or Suburb). The correct format of the address is: Family name in block letters, First name CARE PO (or GPO if you want to collect it from the main city post office) City (or town or suburb). Postcode. So it would be: SMITH, Emma CARE GPO Sydney NSW 2000 You may see some sites that say you should address it to Poste Restante but the correct abbreviation for that is CARE PO. https://auspost.com.au/media/documents/Barcode_hints_tips.pdf The main city GPOs have Poste Restante counters.
