Robert McCann
Hi All, I've been doing some research on immi and it seems every student visa would mean my wife (who wants to move to a student visa -non doctorate/PHD level) would be restricted to 40 hours work per fortnight but so would I as her partner. Does anyone know of a pathway/process that would let me work full time while my wife studies and works the hours she can around her course? Thanks
blossom
Only getting a different visa. They want you to bring money into oz I'm afraid.
dasalcedo
What course is your wife intending to do? If your wife is going to study a master at Uni you will be able to work unlimited hours.
Robert McCann
She's looking to improve her pastry skills with a view to eventually opening our own place but I just don't see it working with us both on 20 hours per week.

Yep, so diploma?? That will be the 20 hour restriction for you both (although she can work full time in holidays, you can't). It isn't easy at all, but they want you to bring the money into the country for the course, not finance it here. It's crap (I know, we did it) but doable. On 20 hours each a week we could break even for living costs in Adelaide, but not cover the course.
