Hello I've been lurking on here for years but not posted much as currently doing my paediatric nursing degree due to qualify next year. I will be applying for the skilled independent visa once I have the qualifying experience so hope to be out there if things go smooth once I have the 12 months experience. Problem I'm having is deciding which state is best for not only my job opportunities but my husbands, I'm going around in circles. We are planning a 3 week reccie next summer so I need to nail it down to at least 2 states.

My husband is ex forces and after a few years in the prison service he is now working as a personal security officer in Afghanistan. This is not a long term job for him just a means to an end for us really until we get to OZ as he's currently on a 11 and 3 rotation. We have 3 young children age 5 and 3 year old twins so would like him to be home more. He is considering looking at correctional services out there as we will have PR but will also look into getting the relevant state security licences and consider this as an avenue. I have also been researching security in the mines as a 14/7 or 7/7 rotation is still much better than he is on now.

So considering this where would people suggest we look into especially more on the work front for my husband? We were originally dead set on Adelaide but I'm thinking more that Queensland would give us more opportunities as a couple? I have looked at Townsville and Brisbane and both appeal for different reasons. Both have correctional services nearby also? The new children's hospital however due to be open in Brisbane will be fab for me as I there will be more opportunities for me. If anyone else in a similar situation or industry as my Oh can provide some advice on the job situation as a whole it would be appreciated?

Sorry for long post, any advice would be appreciated so I can really start planning this reccie?

Thank you

Chantelle
