aliandshane
Hi all, We are looking at returning to the UK and have had Crown over this morning to give us a quote for sending back our furniture. One thing that caught us out is that if we return prior to the 12 months, we may be subject to import duty / VAT. Has this happened to anyone? So now I'm panicking as I'm worried how much it will be. Some of the household belongings we actually brought with us, would we be charged on those too? Also, is it if you arrive as a person back in the UK before the 12 months or if the container does? Has anyone been through this? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ali
Bjay Aysel
My knowledge is out of date by a few years, but as I understand it, if you can prove you owned it before you left in the first place it doesn't apply. Obviously some items are an exception to this because of unique tax laws applying to them.
