Cilla
Hi everyone. After seeing a few people get their Case Officers already when they applied this year I am starting to get anxious. We applied just over a year ago and we haven't heard anything after our initial email in regards to the visa being submitted. We never got the letter. Just the email. They said it was the same. Anyway a year on I am starting to worry and just want to have this done and dusted. My SO doesn't want to be on a bridging visa forever! Should I contact them or just wait? I get worried they've lost the application or what not. It was huge!
Guest
The wait time for on shore has been running at about 13 months for a fair while now. If you've not heard anything after a year I'd perhaps drop an email with your application reference number and so on and enquire as to its status. If you've had an email saying application is in and they will be in touch in due course, there should be a contact point on there somewhere I would think. Probably not to a CO as you don't tend to get assigned one till much later on.

Mark 1234
Yes, I got my onshore partner PR last year, and it took 13 months to be assigned a CO. Nothing to worry about.
JMM
Wait time is now up to 15months. I have been waiting 15months and nothing yet. Cant even get them to talk on the phone for an update and they say they dont have to respond to emails despite having a service standard of two weeks to respond to an email after the 13month period is up. Medical and police checks will be out of date before anyone looks at my application.
Notts
Wait times seem to vary - my 820 was granted last weekend, 11 months after I applied.
JMM
True they do vary. But the published average for 75% has gone up 15 months. Last phone conversation I had was 6 weeks ago with the department and I was advised to email the NSW and WA partner office as the NSW one was incapable of responding to emails. To date NSW has not replied and WA replied saying email NSW as it's not their problem.

JMM
As if by magic. Having waited 15 my visa arrived today.
Cilla
As if by magic. Having waited 15 my visa arrived today. Congratulations! I take it you had a case officer then? I haven't even had that after soon to be 13 months!
JMM
No case officer that I was ever made aware of. In fact that was what I had been emailing them about 6 weeks ago. For the exact timescale. My 820/801 application was acknowledged on 13th dec 2012. So just short of 15months. I have been in country for over four years and was on a 457. Mark 1234
I didn't obtain my PCCs or medical until told to do so by my CO. You always run the risk of them expiring.
JMM
That is a risk. But since I never has a CO I knew about but now have a visa I'm glad all paperwork was submitted. All be it the medical and police checks went in some months after the rest of my paperwork. Quick calf if all 40+ thousand 820 visa applicants do what the department recommends and submit their medical straight away then twelve months later have to resubmit. How many million dollars in un necessary medical charges does the Australian immigration industry make.
JMM
That should have been calc not calf. Sorry
