Sharon101 Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Hi I'm currently in Australia on my husbands 457 visa but have recently passed the skills assessment for optometrist and want to apply for PR. I'm pretty sure I have enough points to apply for 189 visa but wondered if I need to do the IELTS before submitting my EOI or after I receive an invitation to apply? lebourvellec Posted January 21, 2014 Share Posted January 21, 2014 Welcome to PIO If you need the IELTS for points purposes it needs to be completed BEFORE you lodge EOI. If you dont need the points and english is your first language and hold a UK passport, this needs the English requirement but no points are given. Police checks are valid for 1 year - as you are onshore you could applying for them once you have lodged your visa application after you have received invitation.
